My Self Development Must-Reads

I have been a big reader ever since I was a kid. I loved reading fantasy and escaping into the worlds of unicorns and fairies. As I grew older I discovered the world of romance and the Twilight Saga, which became my world for a while. But recently, I have jumped into the realm of Self Development reads. I have loved learning more about the human mind, building healthy habits etc. and most importantly have loved learning about ways I can better my life. In this blog post, I have given you 5 of my favourite non fiction self development books, and my review of each (in no particular order). I hope you find one that sparks your interest, so you may begin or continue your journey with reading for betterment!

The Books...

1. UNTAMED - By Glennon Doyle

This was the book that began my journey with Self Development reading. This book set a high standard for all future books of this genre - I adored every page of it! In this book, Glennon writes about her journey with Spirituality and Connection to herself, and how she untamed and freed herself from society's standards, expectations and conditionings. She explains to her readers in the most beautiful and personal way, how you can unlearn everything that you have been taught about how you 'need' to live your life, and how you can stop living to please others and start living for YOURSELF.

2. THE UNIVERSE HAS YOUR BACK - By Gabrielle Berstein

Gabby is hands down one of my favourite expansive writers. I read this book in the span of a few days, which is rare for me. I just couldn't put it down. I connected and related to this book so much, and its lessons were exactly what I needed for that season of my life. She provides so much valuable insight and knowledge into really trusting in the timing and intentions of the universe, and that the universe really truly has your back, even when you feel like it's set against you. This book really changed how I viewed the world.

3. ATOMIC HABITS - By James Clear

I'm sure you've all heard of this book at some point, it is one of the most popular self development books at the moment! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it really broke down the steps into creating healthy habits that stick in a way that was super easy to digest and understand, and each piece of advice was backed and explained by science. I really recommend this book for anyone who is looking to start some new healthy habits that will last, and break the bad habits that don't seem to budge.

4. THE RESILIENCE PROJECT - By Hugh van Cuylenburg

This one is my current read, and am so far loving it. Hugh shares some of the most touching and raw experiences that he and his loved ones have gone through, and how they were able to keep their chins up through it all, and keep on pushing through life. Yes, life can be tough, but so are you. He shares the lessons he has learnt through his years of finding happiness through Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness, and how you can implement these teachings into your own life.

5. MAKE IT HAPPEN - By Jordanna Levin

This book taught me all about the world of Manifestation, and the laws of the universe. It gives you actionable steps you can take towards attracting the things and the life you desire. I gained a much deeper understanding of how the universe works and rewards, and was able to begin using its power to my advantage. I really recommend this book to anyone who is not yet familiar with the law of attraction and would like to learn more, or to anyone who is, and would like to further their knowledge.

Thank you so much for tuning into this weeks blog post. Things have been pretty hectic and i've had less time to work on my page, but I am hoping to change that! I hope that some of these books resonated with you, and I hope that I have inspired you to pick up and read at least one of two of these books. Thanks for reading and until next time! x
