I was lucky enough to interview the beautiful Olivia Dowding, a Nutrition and Dietetics Student based in Perth, who has a gorgeous Instagram page where she posts her delicious recipes and nutrition advice. In this interview, we dived into Liv's passions, career, how she got started, what a day on her plate looks like, morning & night rituals, her advice for overall wellness and so much more. I hope you enjoy this read, because I certainly did enjoy interviewing and reading Olivia's responses.

1. Firstly, Introduce yourself! Who are you, what do you do, and what are
your passions?
My name is Olivia Dowding and I am a 21 year old Nutrition and Dietetics
student from Perth, WA! I am passionate about all things health and
wellbeing, whilst also being a massive foodie. I love creating delicious and
wholesome recipes, and also being active through running, swimming,
surfing and hiking in the outdoors.
2. What sparked your interest and love for healthy and nutritious foods and to
start your instagram page?
I have grown up always loving healthy food. However during high school it
was never my plan to study nutrition, hence I didn’t do any science subjects
in year 11 and 12, making my journey into a nutrition degree a little harder
than normal. I took a gap year in my first year out of school, where I started
cooking a lot more in my spare time. This sparked my passion for nutrition,
where I realised it was something I wanted to pursue as my career.
In terms of my instagram account, that began when I was bored back in the
first lockdown when COVID became a thing last year (haha typical).
3. What does the average day on your plate look like?
This really depends on what I have got on for the day, but usually it will
involve waking up relatively early, usually before sunrise, then either off to
work or uni. I like to move my body each day, normally first thing when I
wake up if I have the day off, followed by coffee & a delicious breaky. Then I
will do some study, or create a recipe! The end of the day I am typically
spending time with my boyfriend or family.
4. What does an ideal day in your life look like?
An ideal day in my eyes consists of waking up early, watching the sunrise, and
then doing some sort of movement whether that be a swim, run, walk or gym
class. Then a visit to my favourite coffee shop and a nourishing breakfast
must be had. All in all, a (sunny) day spent with good company, good food,
and maybe some baking keeps me pretty happy.
5. Where do you see yourself in the future?
I am not someone who has an exact plan mapped out for my future, but I see
myself working as a Dietitian, living in a sunny coastal town in a nice home
(with a big veggie garden and chickens of course), and with a big family, all
happy and healthy.
6. What are your favourite morning and night time rituals, to begin and start
your day?
Morning rituals: Definitely moving my body in some sort and coffee!!
Night time rituals: A delicious and wholesome dinner with my family and
then either finishing the day reading my book or a couple Netflix episodes
with my bf.
7. What would your advice to someone who wants to improve their Inner and
Outer Wellness be?
Find what you enjoy. Don’t force yourself to do things that other people are
doing just because it is trendy or seen as “healthy”. Exercise & food I find are
the two big contributing factors to my inner and outer wellness. So filling
your plate, with nutritious, whole foods, and finding what type of movement
suits you and your lifestyle is a great start! Also surrounding yourself with
people who support and uplift you and your passions.
