This week, I was lucky enough to interview the amazing Allana, an online Health, Wellness & Fashion Content Creator and Marketing Coordinator from all the way over in Canada! When it comes to maintaining a balanced work/life/school schedule, Allana really knows her stuff. In this interview, Allana and I chat about where her passion for health & wellness and content creation started, her definition of what balance looks like and why its important, some actionable steps we can take to begin to implement to create this effect, and so much more. A huge thanks to Allana for popping onto the blog to chat to us, and enjoy the read! x
1. Firstly, Introduce yourself! Who are you, what do you do, and what are your passions?
Hi! I'm Allana Blumberg, a 22-year-old content creator and marketing coordinator from Toronto, Canada! I work for a creative agency while also hustling on the side building my health, wellness, and lifestyle brand on socials. I love to work out, cook, dine out, and hang with friends.
2. What sparked your interest and love for all things wellness and self development, and how did that develop into helping others along their journeys too?
I grew up being active as I danced competitively. When I moved away from university, I was eager to find a new way to keep myself active without dance. Throughout my fitness journey, I've had a lot of ups and downs, which led to me practicing intuitive and overall wellbeing. I've struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember and learned to cope by leaning into self-care and development practices like setting a morning routine, journaling, working out, and therapy. I've always loved sharing my knowledge with my friends and family, so taking it to social was very organic and natural to me.
3. What do you define to be a balanced work/life schedule? Why is this important?
I think the 'balance' between work/life changes all the time and it's important to be able to be agile. Sometimes it's more work, sometimes it's more play - but I always try to fit both into my day-to-day or weekly schedules. I think it's so important to find what balance means to you because it is what will help you thrive and be able to feel and show up as your highest self every day. It allows us to excel in all avenues of our life. We need social time as much as we need work. The two have to work in harmony together and sometimes they may overlap if you're lucky!
4. What are some of your favourite actionable and productive ways we can begin to implement a more balanced approach into our lives?
My favourite way to implement balanced approaches into my life is through finding out what my non-negotiables are. For example, what are the things I need to do almost every morning in order to feel my best? What allows me to fill up my cup so that I can then give to others? For some, it may be some morning skincare, for others it may be a morning workout, or maybe it's meditation. You got to find out what works for YOU and this can only be done through trial and error. My routines and habits are always changing to best align with what I need in my life in that given season.
5. If you could give your younger self one piece of advice regarding school/work/life balance, what would that be?
That it'll all work out. I would always stress over the little things, sometimes this did more harm than good. It would cause me so much anxiety and distress. Once I learned how to let go and trust my gut instinct, everything changed for the better.
6. What does the ideal day in your life look like?
The ideal day in my life looks like waking up between 6:30-7:00 am, going to a morning workout, grab a coffee/smoothie on the way home, getting to do some work I love, enjoying my meals, and getting to spend quality time with friends. and family.
7. What are your favourite AM and PM rituals to begin and end your day the right way?
I love journaling and moving in some sort of way in the morning. At night, I love doing my skin care and reading before bed.
8. Where do you see yourself and your career in the future?
I see myself living in NYC and working for myself. Whether it be content creation full-time or doing something else on the side like consulting or running a business, I see myself being my own boss.
9. Finally, where can we find you on social media?
You can find me on TikTok, IG and YouTube under @allanablumberg and at my podcast on all places where you can listen to pods, Morning Rae.
